  1. Hi,

I have a Sony RDR VX410 VHS DVD combi unit.

I prefer to capture my VHS via the PC rather than burning straight to disc.

My question is when capturing VHS via the PC the Sony insists on putting a yellow menu bar across the top of the screen whenever a change in audio is detected which is of course captured by the PC.

I have RTFM a number of times, even down loading the manual as a PDF and searching it to find out how to switch this off but to no avail.

Does any one of you know how stop the bar from appearing and fix this annoyance!

    Thanks in Advance
    thanks

It's informational data, such as the channel number or "STOP" and "PLAY" text, it likely cannot be shut off. At least I've never seen a VCR that allows you to shut off information data.

  3. thanks for the reply.

Its a shame if you can not shut it off as the bar stretches from one side of the screen to another.

My Old JVC (S9577) did allow me to do this.

Hope fully someone out there will know if its possible but thanks again for your thoughts.
    thanks

You can not switch it off as it is built in to the software, but why not do a direct copy to disc and then use a upscaling player to send to your P.C. much better quality then direct to P.C. and they are cheap now too.
    Cheers

That is an option, but the Op stated he would rather record to PC.

  6. Thanks for the posting.

This is my first Combo machine I have had and find the video to DVD copies poor over 60 mins (HQ) pixelation etc that isn't there with a virtualDub capture.

This yellow bar is just overkill and just so annoying. I normally avoid $ony products (except for my beta players) as they seem to not like to let you do things your way but prefer you to use their formats & their system.

Great if you are my Mum & Dad but annoying if you want freedom.

thanks again for taking the time.
    thanks
