Hello All,
This is my first post and I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a Toshiba HDD Recorder, the model is RD-XS32. I find this recorder has enormous difficulty burning recorded content to R- dvds. I have tried multiple name brand disks, such as Maxell, Memorex, Verbatim, and so on. The only disk that works intermittently is Sony.
I used the firmware update Toshiba provided and updated the HDD software. Even after this update, the recorder still does not except most brand name dvds.
Can anyone help me with any suggestions?
Many thanks.

It is my understanding that the XS32 had a design issue (flaw) in which the DVD lens was always at high power when the unit was powered on - even when the disc drive was not in use. This could cause premature failure of the DVD drive. This was corrected in subsequent models.
