  1. hi,

I have a Wireless video transmitter to send the tv signals to my room. All was working for a couple of years but now, some people in my neighbourhood have installed some crappy Wifi routers.

Now, I can't use my vide transmitter. The pictures is always scrambled or full of noise. It only works fine during the night (when the routers are off).

I'm sure it's due wifi because I borrowed a frends laptop with embedded wifi and it find 2 or 3 networks during the day. During the nighs when the picture is fine, no wifi are discovered. Naturally, using the wifi rom the laptop to check, completely destroys the video from the wireless transmitters.

I've tested all the available channels on the transmitters without any success.

What can I do to be able to use them again without any problems ?????

    Thanks.

What ghz is the transmitter? Wifi G is 2.4ghz. If your transmitter is also 2.4ghz and no channels are open than you need to go to a different frequency. There is something in the 5ghz range that is the next up in wireless technology. You're only option on the video transmitter might be to jump up to the next ghz range if your channels are all full.

  3. My video transmitter is 2,4 Ghz and I cannot change to 5 Ghz on it. I can only select 4 channels

I didn't mean change it. I meant you might just have to buy a new transmitter at the higher frequency.

There are no European frequency allocations for video senders other than 2400-2485 MHz, split nominally into 4 channels. Standard Wi-Fi uses this same frequency band but there is also a 5 GHz allocation for Wi-Fi. Unless you intend buying your neighbours 5 GHz Wi-Fi units there isn't a lot you can do.

You might try changing your video senders for a different make, as the selectivity of receivers varies with make. I have one that only suffers a interference if the receiver is within a few feet of a Wi-Fi equipped computer or access point. If you can detect what channel the routers are using, try setting the video senders to the opposite end of the band. I'm also surprised that the neighbours switch their routers off at night, mine is never off!

You might be able to add a couple of these http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html to the antennas and minimize the interference. Cost about ten cents to try.

Mine are already equiped with parabolic antennas.

It's strange they cut off wifi during night, but it's like this It's just very annoying they put wifi
