Is there somewhere a complete guide on how to capture into a file a video/audio stream that can be played by a WM Player ? I tried WMRecorder, but it did not work. After all, if WM Player can handle the stream, then there should be a tool to capture this stream into a file, am I correct ?

There are other tools available in the Tools section: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-streaming-recording
From other posts here, it is often a matter of trial and error to find the right tool for each type of stream. Maybe someone else will have more info.Google is your Friend
