Im trying to burn dvd folders to a disc to be able to play in other dvd players. This method works on my desktop but not on this laptop. Can anybody help?

Well its burning the files, for example hte Video_TS files onto the disc, but its like its not finalizing them or something because they dont work. ON my desktop to make a copy of a DVD, I copy the Video_TS file onto the hard drive, make a data disc of that file and burn it and it works just fine. COuld it be the software or maybe the burner?

Okay i will do that and let you know the results. The way its acting its like its not finalizing the disc properly. The dvd i burn works in my desktop, and the file is there, its just not being reconized in the dvd player.

Well that worked good. But what i wish I could avoid is having to convert the video_ts file to an image to burn. It seems like a wasted step when all I should have to do is burn the video_ts file.

Wasted step but it burned the disc correctly. IMHO I wouldn't use software that's bundled with a desktop computer/laptop. Which is why I just build my own computers & install software that I want & know that it works well.

You can't really burn a VIDEO_TS folder as a data disc, AFAIK. It may play on a computer, but not usually on a settop player. ImgBurn is a good option with 'Build' mode. It does what is needed to make a compliant DVD. I don't know if it converts to ISO to enable burning in 'Build' mode, but it does make a compliant DVD.

redwutz that's not correct. all dvds are "data" format discs. period. but, the burning software has to be set to iso/udf bridge format to play on both comp and standalone. some standalones also need the empty "AUDIO_TS" folder to read a dvd. folder names and file names also need to be in all CAPS.

Thanks, aedipuss, I was at a loss for words.
I was thinking mainly that it's not the same settings as burning a AVI data disc.

A : Don't store such large files on desktop , its not meant for that and system storage is limited in this area .
B : You do not need to create an iso ... Imgburn will accept video_ts with content / audio_ts , and burn as dvd .
Make sure you go > tools > iso > change volume label > add same name to both iso9660 and udf .
C : The only time you should create an iso is when dl media will be required , so as to set an appropriate layer break . -
Okay to address your points.
a) ive done that for months and it hasnt been a problem. Theres no point in having a 250gig HD if your not going to store stuff on it.
b) Thank you for this, it works perfectly!
c) Why do I need a layer break?
