I'm sure this question was asked before, but I'm not having very much luck finding any good advice on it. I am trying to convert a HDTV video file to DVD format so I can play it back on my home dvd player. What is the best way to do this so I keep most of the good quality video and sound? I know that there many different free programs out there, the only problem is not knowing how to use them all separately. Is there any good tutorial on how to do it?
I would appreciate some good advice with maybe some step by step on how to do it.![]()

Try to determine if you are using .ts or .tp or .mpg files from your capture source. Then you can move on from there.
You'll need to decide to if you want to keep 5.1 surround sound if it is in the original recording. Some process are differenct to keep it. Some all in one programs may or may not keep the surround sound - you would have to research them to make sure they keep it intact.Donatello - The Shredder?
