    Which program should I use?

For instance, if I have movie that require shrinking, which program should I use if I want to encode the movie if I have shrunk it the following:

    10-20 % of the movie
    20-30 % of the movie
    30-50 % of the movie

I have troubles explaining myself as my native language isn’t English.

It depends on the movie. Some might transcode OK down by 30%, so DVD Shrink will do fine. Others won't transcode down by even 10%, so an encoder should be used. There is no strict rule. Some people are happy using DVD Shrink or Nero Recode or Clone DVD or whatever transcoder they prefer, no matter what reduction is required. They will squeeze it by 50% and claim to see no difference between their copy and the original. They are of course either lying, legally blind, or watching it on an old monochrome LCD calculator screen.

Personally, less than 10% I will usually use DVD Shrink with Deep Analysis and AEC on. Anymore than that I will use DVD Rebuilder with HCEnc.

edit: fixed reference to DVD Rebuilder

Cheers for the help, mate. Is DVDRemake as good as DVD-rebuilder or is it just either one of them?

What is DVD shrink with Deep Analysis and AEC?

Deep Analysis is a 2 pass analysis of the source that gives better quality and target size.
AEC provides better quality but at the cost of speed.
I always use Deep Analysis but rarely use AEC.My rule is if I have to shrink >35% I will use a DL.
BTWVDShrink only works on DVD files(eg VOB,IFO,BUP),if you have a MPEG file you must use an encoder.

So, you use DVDshrink up 35%, and more than that you use dual layer discs?
Where in DVDshrink do I check if I have Deep Analysis? I didn't know DVDshrink had it.

  6. Yes 35% is my limit on SL.
You select Deep Analysis when you hit 'Backup!' look for the 'Quality' tab.

I would also like to burn my movies on DL discs, however, in Sweden they are too expensive to buy. Do know where I can buy them cheap?
