Walmart has this recorder for $99. According to their site it plays Divx, the Samsung site say it does not. Does it play them or not?

All the ones I have googled that said it played divx say its PAL/SECAM format. The manual for the uk version at samsung.com says it plays divx, the us manual says it does not.

    For the Samsung DVD-R129

[On the Samsung Site] - Both the US and UK specifications appear to be the same. –
Both do not include Divx as a playable or record media. In fact the US version indicates Divx as not acceptable.

If the UK model manual indicates it will play a Divx disk make sure the US version does also – [Please post a site]

The problem with many sites that point to Sellers etc. is that claims are made that are not correct.
If the information is conflicting and not verified I would go with the Mfg specs.
In this case. It would seem a WalMart purchase and they indicate it will play Divx.
I would buy it and try a Divx disk If it plays [Great] If Not take it back and tell them their claim is bogus -- [I doubt they would have a Divx disk]

    Good Luck

    PS
Let us know how it worked out
