    Hello All,

I have a dual channel video piece nearing completion, however I'm unsure how to play it. I will be using 2 dvds, each containing 1 channel.

I've seen people accomplish this by using 2 dvd players, but I assume there is a more efficient, and exact, way to do this. Can anyone offer any recommendations, on setup, or perhaps a player that will play multiple discs at the same time?

    Thanks.

Depends on many factors, so it is difficult to be specific

Will it be played back on regular old style TVs or Hidef monitors ? Must the playback device be a standard DVD player?

You could master the two so they are in a single hidef mpeg2 file, side by side 1440x480 (720x480x2). Then play the 1 file back on a media player that can support the resolution. A 22" or 24" wide flat panel monitor can handle 1650x1080, so it would easily fit.

Conceptually, you'd see something like this:

For previous work, I have used a Mac mini attached to a Dell 20" widescreen monitor. I have a bunch of the Dells, so I'd like to continue using those. They have DVI / VGA / S-vid inputs.

I was using the minis to play back the uncompressed file, as the quality was much better than a DVD (the files were 40+ gigs each). However, I realize, for dual channel I'll have to probably go DVD based playback to sync this up.

Really, I guess I'd need a unit that has at least to dvi / vga out ports, and the ability to either play 2 discs, two files, or as suggested 1 file over 2 monitors (which is an idea I like)

Of course, I'm open to all suggestions.

Too bad the MAC mini only has 1 video connection on it. Actually, I meant mastering the video like this: (which would end up as 1 video over 1 wide screen monitor). In that case, a single mac mini could do the job.
