  1. Hi everybody

I'm totally new to videoediting. I've captured several short clips with my digital camera and now I saved them on my computer. They're in quicktime format.

I want to edit the clips and realize a single .avi file to be then published on my website and blog.
    How can I do it?
What software do I need for?

Try first mp4camtoavi, it works with some quicktime movs. Or else use Super or Mpeg Streamclip and convert to avi divx, xvid.

    Great! It worked perfectly.
Problem #2. I'm editing the clips cutting unuseful parts with VirtualDub but... everytime I save the new file, which is shorter, adn thus should be smaller... it is 10 times the size!!! The orginal 13mb 1'18" clip has been cut into a 55" one for... 110MB!!!!
What's wrong in my settings? What corrections do I have to make in order to keep the size UNDER the original one?

In vertualDub, before saving your edit you must click Video then compression

then select the codec you like.

If you just are cutting use Video->Direct Stream Copy and the video wont be reconverted.
