I am using a Matshita UJ832d DVD+/-RW DL burner that came with my VAIO notebook. All of a sudden I have not been able to burn DVD-R's, but I can still burn CD-R's and erase/write DVD-RW's. I tried formatting my system, different brands of DVD-R (memorex and TDK) but nothing has worked. Has anyone heard of such a problem, or what could cause it?

The CD-R brand is Sony, and the DVD-RW brand is Philips. I have had numerous successful burns. Also, the drive will still play DVD movies. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What software are you using to burn? What exact error are your seeing?

Try uninstalling/reinstalling your burning software or trying a different app such as IMGBurn.

Don't screw around. If this system is in warranty get SONY to send you a replacement drive to install. When you get it test with -R, +R and -RW. You want a drive that works in a system this new.
