For a school project, I'm looking to take specific video clips from a DVD that was shot with a camcorder and put them together to make a completed video. I also need to add a simple title screen at the beginning and simple credits at the end. I know I could do it with a combination of DVD Shrink, AutoGK, and Windows Movie Maker, but Movie Maker ruins the Xvid video produced by AutoGK by making it choppy. Since this is a school project, I need a free way to compile the video and burn it to DVD. Thanks in advance!

Don't convert to xvid. Use instead virtualdubmpeg2 and convert to dv avi or lagarith ,huffyuv avi and then edit it in Windows Movie Maker. You could also try Vob2mpg and import the mpg directly in wmm, it works for some.
Or use another editing tool that can import dvd vobs directly Like Mpeg Video Wizard, not free though.
