  1. Very new to editing and searching for a good package.

One thing I wasn't able to do in Windows Movie Maker was simply put text on the display while video was playing. For instance I would like to have video playing and circle an area of interest.

Does anyone know if I can accomplish this with Sony Movie Studio?

    Any insight appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kerry

Yes, you can (you can also put text over the video in Movie Maker)

Drop a new timeline above your video timeline. Put text on this with a transparent background (use the Text generator) and this text will appear over the video.

Is Text Generator part of Movie Maker or Movie Studio?

Movie Studio. Movie Studio also ships with a series of tutorials called 'Show Me How'. I suggest you go through some of these to get a handle on the basics.
