First, where can I find audio files (in different languages) for movies? i.e. similar to what we find in subtitle sites, is there a site that has audio files you can be used to re-encode a given movie with a say French if the original movie is in German or English.

Second, if such web sites or forums do exist what are the best (easy to use & fast) tools to do it...?

Bottom line I have found a couple of very rare old movies (avi & mpg files), but when I played them, they're in German...so the plan is to strip the video from these AVIs, find English audio files an re-encode new avi or mpg with desired language...

    Thanks a 10^6

I doubt there are any such sites.

Aside from copyright concerns, movies are released in different markets edited differently (cut for length, credits changed, sex and or violence cut), you'd have a nightmare time trying to sync it if it were possible at all.

But possibly, if your movies have some kind of a cult following, look for forums or sites for fan groups that discuss these movies. Perhaps you can exchange files with someone with a lousy video but decent sound.

Subtitling would be MUCH easier. If you strip the audio, you lose background audio, too, not just the voices. That alone would ruin most movies.

Find someone who speaks German and English and ask them to translate it for you.
