    which subtitle format is the best for encoding with avstodvd? I started out with extracting the subs from an m2ts file to sup files but after a 2pass encode they don't show up in the final output...

    You can ask in the dedicated AVSToDVD thread, but an educated guess says it won't accept BD SUP files as input. Convert them first to VOBSubs (BDSUP2SUB). And don't forget to resize them for DVD while you're at it.

    You can use srt as well, but you will have to OCR the subtitle.
