Hey all, I'm new to this so bear with me, hehe.

First my info. I'm using a JVC DRM100S DVD Recorder. And I am using Sony 1x-2x DVD-RW's (RITEKW01).

Now, what I am trying to do is, record on the DVD-RW, and then bring it over to the PC and reauthor. The problem is once I've recorded onto the RW, My computer won't read it, neither will other DVD player's in the house. It will play fine on the JVC Recorder it was recorded on, but that's it.

I formatted the DVD for Video mode. And did Finalize the disc when I finished recording. And yet nothing. Is there something I am missing.

Also, one other thing I'd like to know is, once I finalize a DVD-RW, can I reformat it and re-record on it once I've reauthored it onto a DVD-R?

Thanks for any help you can send this newb's way.

  2. Do you know if your computer drive and player support dvd-rw regardless of the recording mode?

Second have you tried one of these disks in your computer, brand new, and not written on? Does your computer recognize it? If not, your drive may not support this brand or type or it may need a firmware update to recognize it if it does support it.

I was able to use DVD Identifier to reconize the media ID on the disc when it was brand new, before being written on, so I think that means my drive can reconize it, but I am not sure. My new DVD Burner for the PC (Pioneer 112D) should be arriving later today, I guess I should wait and see what happens with that drive.

EDIT: Funny thing, I happened to have the disc in the drive right now, and I noticed my drive was able to read it fine. Wonder why that is. I did reformat it and try recording again since I oringally posted, maybe it was a bad burn, does that happen?
