If it's not region free - what region is it now? It's listed as region free anywhere I've seen. But maybe it's a TV system problem (PAL/NTSC)? http://www.ecamerafilms.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=JDVD740&Show=TechSpecs says "LCD displays only NTSC"

If all else fails, rip and backup (a good idea anyway) the DVDs you want to play on the JDVD - All rippers make the disk region free by default.

All the information for this player (including the box obviously) states that it is region free. So assuming you are correct, and it isn't, then you need to return it. Since it doesn't have any region setting, there is no need to get into the "hidden menu" or try and hack it because there is no region code to change.

Are you trying to view the region 2 disc on the built in display or output to a TV? What error are you getting if any? What exactly are you seeing when it doesn't work?

Personally I would return it. It's supposed to be region free and it obviously isn't. If customer service can walk you through making it region free, then that may be an option for you.

You don't have to yell. I was just giving my opinion. Your best bet would be to contact customer service. Maybe they can explain why it isn't region free and or replace it for you.

As a side note, did you get the model number from the box or the unit itself? In other words, does the model number on the unit match the box? I was just wondering if you actually had the correct unit.
