  1. Hello,
In regards to subtitles, are they a stream of video that is on the disc? Or are they wired into the video that is being played? And in either case is there a way for me to pull the subtitles so that I can either use them or remove them when I re-author the disc? I would like to be able to have them still visible in certain parts.

    Thanks!

There are a stream of bitmaps. Have a look in the subtitles area of the Tools section ( https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/subtitle )

Because they are bitmaps, to extract them into an editable form then must be converted to text using OCR techniques.

Yes, you can use OCR using DVDSubEdit or just use SubRip.
