Can I do this? Record out to standalone DVD recorder using output on the ADVC-100? and how? And other newbie type questions regarding TV out/in

I would love to occasionally watch TV on my new computer monitor. I would also like to be able to record streaming video from abc.com & other sources out onto my stand-alone DVD recorder using a TV out connection.

At this time I don’t have TV In/Out hook ups on my computer. I have regular cable TV through the coax cable. I also own the Canopus ADVC 100 which I have used occasionally for video transfer. I was looking at TV cards like the Hauppauge 1600 but realized it didn’t have an out port. I also looked at the Hauppauge 350 but really do not want to spend that much money ($125). After a search I realized new graphics cards have TV out ports. Do they have TV in? Can I TV Out the streaming video? I am really not sure how this works.

And please, how do you hook the Canoups up for output? I have tried hooking up the cables to output, then playing the video using Windows Media Player and other software. I also tried playing through SceneAlyzer. I have never been able to get output to work. I just get a blank screen and no sound. Nada. I do not know if it is some software I need that I do not know about or the way I am hooking it up. And now I wonder if this unit will work for TV out. And in? Any help on this would be invaluable. The little manual that came with the unit is rather sparse. I have read of others here hooking it up for output but they never really explain how they did it.

And BTW, Because I wanted subtitles, I ended up buying a standalone DVD recorder. I stopped using the Canopus for video transfer so use of this unit has been sporadic at best over the last 5 years. Thanks for any help.
