I have 4500 pairs of JPEG files sorted onto 13 directories after scanning and treating the photos. I have used Pinnacle 9 to convert these with Audio attached into 6 MPEG files which I then shrunk with DVD Double shrink. The first of each pair contains a description at the foot of the Photo and the second does not leaving the label on the screen for three seconds and the unlabelled image for 5 seconds.
I have no trouble reducing the project to 6 MPEG files and then shrinking these with DVD Doubleshrink.
The problem is with Playback. On my monitor, the image is fine and I get the full label on screen.
Monitor Ratio is 1.25 I think

On the TV screen however (AR 4:3) the caption is truncated! I have tried Picture in picture but Pinnacle froze every time I tried to use this. Reframing 9000 photos individually is out of the question.
I've searched this forum and others with no success. If you can help with a simple solution, I'd be grateful

  2. Hi-

Don't know if I can. You lost part of your image to the TV overscan:

As I see it you have 2 choices. One would be to redo the pics, making sure the text is inside of the so-called Safe Area. The other would be to leave the pics as is, but to add in a border of black all around, so only that is lost to the overscan. The best way to do that is to use a FitCD generated AviSynth script and reencode.

I've never heard of DVD Doubleshrink.

Thanks manono. I'll put a border on each via a batch process with Paint Shop Pro if I have to. Damn.
Double shrink was obtained from a free disc with PC User Magazine May 2007 in the Mag Stuff section. It reduced an 8.1GB file to 1.9GB on burning and will apparently burn several files to the same disc. Too big though for the server. via attachments.

Follow up for others. The best way to do this is to edit a frame by cropping etc and then recording a script which Paint Shop Pro lets you do. Frames can be applied to non standard photos on a % basis, whereas borders mean all photos treated have to be resized, since the borders at least in this program seem to be of a prescribed size , unrelated to the photo.
I treated 9000 photos in a day this way.
