  1. VirtualDub is looking for a capture driver for my AIW. I'm not sure how I get around this. It'z not recognizing my AIW as a capturing source!

Is there any other capturing softwares that may work instead?

When using the multimedia center that comes with the card, I find that the sound comes out very poorley and the video is not that great!

  2. The AIW cards all use the new WDM drivers which Virtual Dub cannot find. There is a "wrapper" available that is supposed to make them work together, but i've never been able to make it work!

The sound quality should be excellent with MMC 7.1 so maybe you've connected something up wrong - plus the fact that the audio inputs of a PC are much lower than the audio outputs of a hi-fi system so you could be getting a distorted sound without even realising it - the meters might be reading it low but the input is just too damn loud for the PC to cope with!

Currently, I use the AIW 128 Pro capping at 8mbps I frame only MPEG1 @ 704x576. I then convert this down to SVCD standard with TMPGenc. Usually have to re-mux it with BBmpeg as the audio is usually about a tenth of a second behind the picture, and then burn it with Nero.

What does this mean "I frame only"? Does this give superior quality? Can you do that with lower resolutions or variable bit rates? Interesting indeed!

Also, could you burn a mpeg-1 with I frames only or does it need to be converted first?

    thanks!
