    Hi folks,

I wonder if anybody can help with this problem.

I have had a Sony Camcorder TRV-355E for quite a while now and have sucessfully used the i-link to transfer the video onto my computer and edit it using Pinnacle Studio.

However, I have always wondered why, whilst I am transfering/ capturing, the visual is played on the preview screen, but the audio never comes out of the computer connected speakers. The playback within the program is fine once the capture has been done and the rendering to VCD/SVCD/DVD has no problems. Whilst the capture takes place the only audio I can hear is from the Camcorder speaker.

The problem occurs using other programs such as WinDV or the Sony DV Camcorder option listed in the Computer folders tree, so it is not just Pinnacle that has the problem.

    Any suggestions please?

    Regards

    Techno

I have the same Sony camcorder.
I've been using Vegas for transfer and it has options to allow to preview audio.
I do not use Pinnacle or WinDV, but I believe that you should check under options or preferences to allow preview of audio while transfering.

    Thanks for the response.

I downloaded a trial version of Vegas and as you said there is an audio preview option. This did what I wanted it to do. i.e. hearing the audio being recorded as well as seing the video.

Neither Studio or WINDV has, as far as I can see, any selection choice over the audio. I was hoping that somebody who uses either of these programs could confirm whether or not there is this option.

    Regards

Full version of Vegas is a bit expensive (500$) for home users.
But there is Vegas Movie Studio, which is affordable (120$):
