  1. ok I am new at this and I ripped a DVD just to do it, I ripped it with DVD2AVI with a downmix to pro logic, Well i am a sound nut and when I played it on my B and W speakers, I also played it on my M&K speakers and it sound pretty good, I was surprised at how well all of the sounds were at the correct speaker,

the picture look like I recorded it on VHS on the SLP setting. but the man problem is that it looks a lil blocky at times. I can fit 80 min on a 80 min cd so I would rather get better quality if I can get 60 min on a 80 min cd that would be cool.

I am using Tmpeg and alot of the software from this site.
I also plan on putting home video of family activites on VCD so if you can help me out that would be great

    Should I try SVCD????

Also should I make a image and burn it to cd or should I just burn the mpeg or mpeg2 file???

  2. Use DVDx and interpolation. This is the easyest and best solution for your need.

  3. 720x480 xvcds

Should be able to get 50 minutes with a decent bit-rate, but you will have to mess around with it to see about getting 60.

  4. Hi,

I know how you can get a bit more quality on a VCD , just convert in steps, it take a very long time....

    1. You convert the DVD with DVDx to MPEG-2 (or other tool) with the 4600 kbps and 720 x 576 or 720 x 480 Resolution.
    2. Open TMPEnc, open your ripped video and convert it to SVCD- Standard.
    3. Convert the SVCD video to VBR VCD, 75%.
    4. After that all you convert the smaller than VCD file to the standard VCD.

    See ya!!!
