    Hi!

I've been using Fair Use Wizard 2.5 and downloaded with it the command line NeroAAC app. I want to convert DVD's to h.264 with AAC sound in an .mp4 container. The output would be my 36" Direct View SD Television.

I have found x.264 as the video encoder, but only see audio options for mp3, Ogg, and AC3. There is also no button I can find under container choices to make the output .mp4.

The only guide I could find for Fair Use Wizard says there are ways to load external codecs into the program, but does not show how to do it.

Is there a key I am missing to get AAC Sound and the mp4 container?

    Thanks!

    Bill

Just an FYI for you. Fair Use Wizard 2.6 was just released last week. If you bought yours, you should have received an update notice. There are several improvements / fixes in it. It may not have anything to do with the problem you asked about but it's still worth doing the upgrade.

If they are using NeroACC, then they are using my build (it prompts at the end of the installer to open the website to download since Ahead's license would prevent my bundling it).

I also did a 2.6 build though. Unfortunately I didn't make that many changes from the Official build. So like it my build only does mp4 for SP MPEG-4 Part 2 (for iPod's). I was thinking of adding 640x480 iPod AVC support. But I don't have an iPod video to test with (only a 40GB Photo). Plus then I was thinking that it would be better to add full AVC support, which would mean moving from VfW to cli and then it isn't really FU anymore. Still might add the option for iPod AVC though.

Fact is that if you don't have hardware limitations, then you can do much better than iPod compatible in terms of quality and efficiency.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I am using your build. (Thanks by the way for all that you do for the online video community!) If you could provide either the 640 x 480 Ipod AVC or full AVC support for FU that would really be great! I understand that you risk getting away from FU, but some flexibility in this area would be great!

In your opinion what would be better for quality and efficiency for my computer vids? I play them on a SD 36" Tv.

    Thanks!

My point was simply that iPod's are mainly about playtime (battery life). If you have the power to decode the extra features offered by higher AVC profiles, then you should use them, in which case maybe FU isn't the best encoder.
