Thread: DVD to DVD copy

Thread
  1. Here is what I have. A Philips recorder and a DVD player. IN between I have a copy eliminator. The in and out for this is S video. I am looking for a recorder are player where I can eliminate the middle part. Hooking direct will allow me to use component cables in place of S video.

Anyone have an idea on a recorder or player that is copy free.

Are you trying to copy a dvd from the dvd player to the dvd recorder? If so I don't think it's possible? (Copyprotected) Just use your pc. dvd writers are cheap now, and there are many free apps to do this.

klsparrow, I use a ILO R04 recorder and do exactly what you are trying to accomplish (ILO R04 dvd recorder component line-out to Philips HDRW 720/17 component line-in) and I get great results. If you can find an ILO R04, ILO HD04 or older hackable Liteon models (50XX series) you be able to do this. The ILO/Liteon hacked models can record CP material and output a CP free signal to any other recorder.

LITE ON LVW 5045 DVD RECORDER with hacks can do it but its going to cost you to find one. Ilo HD04 is also hard to find. Most just use the Computer with software.

  5. Thanks for the information. A recorder like the Philips DVDR80 vs. using the computer to copy. I have given thought to using a computer.

Which method would give me the best results, picture quality wise. What programs are best to do computer copying. The only one I have looked at is DVD copy.

    Thanks

Update, I can find the ILO DVDR05 out of Canada. This one is region free. To do what the ILO DVDR04 does is this close but not close enough to be made copy protection free?

The ILO R04 (rebadged 5001) was produced by Liteon and the hacks will work with this unit (actually this is the model that the hack was initially developed for), the ILO R05 was produced by Cyberhome, it's actually a rebadged Cyberhome 1600. The hack does not work on the Cyberhome (ILO R05). Sorry for the bad news.

  7. Correct about the Liteon/ilo older units and the difference in the 04 and 05
    The 04 is Liteon made
The hack is for Analog MV and these units will all pass this on to another unit inline. Hence they do not filter Analog MV [they now ignore it]

With Digital CP the older Liteon/ilo units are non-compliant with or without a hack
The 04 is no longer made, same for many Liteon units. They can still be bought used but be prepared to change out the DVD drive, or [Other Problems]
There May be some Liteon units that can still be bought new that can accept a hack and could be non-compliant

I used to use a PC But prefer the standalone, not everone would agree.
If you go the PC route get good Equip and software. I had used an older capture card an DVD shrink and DVD dycripter.

For what you want See if you can find a standalone unit that fills your needs
The DVD drives in the Liteon/ilo had problems
All mine have been rplaced with PC drives and thats anpther issue

    PS
The additional box in the system Was it for MV or did it and the svideo, render the system Digital CP free
