I am in the market for a new MiniDV Camcorder.
I have tried two of the Canon ZR series.
    Video quality is acceptable,
However the build in mike records all the noise from the tape deck,
(this seems to be a common complaint with Canon)
This is very annoying and unacceptable during playback
Does anyone have any personal experience and can recommend a MiniDv without this problem
    Thanks

No problems with the Sony PD150/170 or Vx2000/2100 or the FX1 or even the Digital8's I've used. I put these up on big Polk speakers and hear analog noise floor not motors.

That said, for serious work I use separate Mics and only go to the built in Mic for ambient sound.

For travel stuff, wind is often the frustration.
