I have just had a new graphics card (Nvidia 7600GT) since my current one (6600GT) is faulty.

After installing the latest drivers from the nvidia site, VLC no longer displays movies (in all formats)

All I get is a blank screen playing with audio. Before changing my GPU, VLC played fine.

Ive tried uninstalling and installing VLC, makes no difference. I have not installed any new codecs.

Ive even tried enabling and disabling overlay mode in VLC, makes no difference.

Windows media player plays the videos fine, just not VLC.

    Any ideas???

Possibly try again. Uninstall VLC, reboot and reinstall the latest video drivers, reboot and reinstall VLC.

If that fails, you will need to uninstall VLC, reboot and then run regedit and remove anything referencing VLC, then reboot and reinstall VLC.

Use Driver Cleaner Pro http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Driver-Cleaner-Professional.shtml to remove ALL nvidia drivers for graphic cards.

Reinstall, LATEST drivers. Also download and reinstall Directx.

If that does not work go to the VLC forum the guy who answers most of the questions over there is VERY sharp.

I also have the OP's problem. But it happened after upgrading to a newer version. I uninstalled/re-installed many times. Even re-installed the old version. No luck. I am using it to play HD-MPEG2 files.

Be sure you follow my directions about COMPLETELY removing the driver via the tool. Not just uninstalling. Also be sure you reinstall Directx before you install the new driver.
