I was wondering if anyone can help me, I canned the VCR a while ago since it's a pain and quality-wise it sucks at recording... we got a Samsung 32" HDTV recently and love the HDTV/atsc over the air content, quality and the widescreen presentation... we also do not have cable or care to have cable/sat tv, but I would like to record the stuff we are missing from time to time to watch later. Basically I'm looking for anything that will record/playback widescreen, ATSC content... I really don't care to keep the dvds I record for later, for me, it's watch and dump. I've looked into Tivo machines because that seems like a nice way to go since I don't care to archive but cost-wise they are high, and that subscription... blah... is there anything within a $1-200 range that will do a nice job of recording content for playback? Maybe a hard drive only system? DVD/hard drive? I would also like to view divx as well so... and prefer HDMI but not a deal breaker. I also see that the TV Guide On Screen is free but not sure which players do that, if you need a HD and if any good... thanks, I guess I'm just confused by all the different recorders out there.
