I've been ripping DVD to MP4 AVI using Handbrake. My question is about Framerate. I can choose "Same as source" or any number of manual settings up to 29.97 fps. I've tried both "Same as source" (which gave me 23.976 fps) and 25 fps (which is that rate that practically all of the high-rez AVIs I've ever downloaded seem to be at). I haven't seen a difference in the video quality between the two. Again, is there a framerate that's preferable for any reason?

    Thanks,
    Peter

It won't make a difference if played on a computer. An interlace TV won't like 23.976 unless processed with pulldown to 29.97. Some progressive TV sets won't like 480p/23.976 either. They expect frame repeats to 480p/59.94. Most US TV sets won't like 576p/25fps.

  3. Generally you should use same as source. NTSC movies will usually be 23.976 fps. PAL movies are usually 25 fps. Changing the frame rate will give you jerky video or A/V sync problems.
