  1. I purchased the Ulead DVD Pictureshow program. Couldn't be easier to use. The problem is I have burned a bunch of CDRs and CDRWs and my Apex AD-5131 will not play them. I put the disk in, press play, and get the following...

    Ulead PhotoVCD

    VCD 2.0 Player Required
Please turn on PBC to show photos

I searched around on the net and have only found it referred to on the Ulead forums, but with no answers. I notice on the AD-5131's remote a button that tutns PBC off, but did not see any way to turn it on.

Any help is appreciated. Just started trying to make VCD's for the first time and seem close to getting this to work. I am able to burn all the photos to the CDR and view the slideshow on the Apex, but I would like to be able to add music to it, which is why I was checking out Ulead's product.

I have used Nero to create a VideCD of jpgs that ran fine, but the background music piece is what attracted me to Ulead. The Apex manual (yes, I even read it) does say that it is VideoCD 2.0 compliant, so I was hoping I am just missing something minor.

Thanks for any assistance anyone may have.

the PBC button on the remote control should turn it on (when it is off) or off (when it is on) when it is pressed.

  3. Thanks. I guessed right then.

Problem is I just get a hand symbol in the upper left hand corner of the screen when I hit that button.

Called Ulead's tech support and talked to them about it and they feel that since I can get it to play on the DVD player on my PC (PowerDVD), then it is probably the Apex having the problem.

  4. Called Apex. They said it just looks like it is not going to work. They were not sure if it was my player or the AD-5131 model.

So, before I rip this thing out of my entertainment center, box it up and exchange it for another AD-5131, can anyone out there verify if their AD-5131 can indeed play VCD 2.0 disks?
