This one is new for me. I ripped a backup of Happy Feet on my PC and everything went good. After putting the original copy back in the DVD player, it stopped playing and gave me a copyright error. Has anyone run into this before?

There's no way the orginal dvd can know it's been copied. Are you certain the disc you played and receved the error wasn't the back up?

You didn't use DVDXCOPY, did you???

i have had a similiar inciddent. my thought is that the dvd leaves a cookie on your HD. this happened with Casino Royale. i searched using windows explorer and found in that file an .exe extension. remember that sony had cd's that were encrypted and caused many problems. now before i get slammed as not having a clue this is only a thought, i have no technical evidence to support this, only that it has happened twice (Borat also)...and this is an very uneducated opinion.

You would have to install something or have something installed unbeknowst to you. Due to the slamming Sony took over the same thing I doubt any company will try that tactic again, unless you specifically installed something that said this will prevent copying of videos it's doubtful you have anything on your computer... of course I could be wrong but I certainly wouldn't want to be the executive that made that decision because if that's the case it will get found out.
Also note his problem is playing a already pressed DVD in a standalone DVD plyer which is competely different. -

i tend to agree on this statement. anyone else backup their copy of Happy Feet and experience this? -
If your DVD player has "Autorun" enabled, then it is possible that something was "transfered" to your PC, be it a registry entry, a cookie, or whatever.
To prevent this from ever happening in the future, turn off this "feature".ICBM target coordinates:

Happy Feet was not a problem. Casino Royale wouldn't even play in the old Apex - had to play it in the Panny DVD recorder instead.

Really weird about Casino Royale. It wouldn't even auto-run on my PC, the dvd drive didn't even see the dvd, and AnyDVD started playing up, messages saying 'Microsoft deteted error with AnyDVd and AnyDVD needs to shutdown' or somesuch. Then no other dvd's would recognised in my drive. I uninstalled and re-installed AnyDVd and other dvd's would play ok. The moment I stuck Casino Royale in the drive all hell broke lose again with AnyDVD giving errors and no other dvd's being recognised. What the hell did they do to Casino Royale (and its effect on Anydvd) ?????
Has Q been up to some dasterdly trick ? -
