I was ripping a disc with dvd decrypter and I kept getting an error, I believe a copy protection one. So i decided to just quit and move on to something else, so I tried to cancel out of dycrypter.
I finally did an end task to get it to stop.
When I rebooted the pc, the playing, non burner drive will no longer reconize anything. If you put a disc in the light comes on for a mili second, but under my computer it says no disc. Also if I open dvd shreink it also says no disc. Even that little windows "what do you want to do" window doesn't pop up.
I'm guessing it's a device manager issue with the computer seeing the drive? Did i maybe un register it when the dvd decryper crashed?
    Any help would be great.

Most commonly, when a drive has a problem reading a disc, the OS reverts it to PIO mode.

To check DMA/PIO mode within Windows:

    Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

From there, right click on one of the channels and choose 'Properties>Advanced Settings'. All drives should be DMA mode. The 'Current Transfer Mode' for Hard drives is usually DMA 4-6 and DVD burners DMA 2-4, DVD ROMs usually DMA 2. If you see any in PIO mode, that can slow things down.

Changing them back may be easy or complicated. First see if you can change them in that window. If not, I usually uninstall the channel the drive is on and let the OS reinstall it. This will usually take a reboot and it should correct the DMA settings. If not, see if they can be changed manually. This will not damage any files on the computer.

From there, if no luck, get back to us.

To add: DVD Decrypter can't handle newer encryptions. Try RipIt4Me or DVDFab Decrypter. RipIt4Me uses DVD Decrypter and several other programs that can decrypt about any DVD out there. Both are freeware.

    Thanks I'll try it
FYI I was using ripitforme, just the problem happened during the decryper portion so I didn't mention it.
