  1. The latest version(s) of ripit4me let you go directly to dvdshrink if it detects no copy protection that will prevent shrink from completing the job without additional help. But the data goes through a number of processes before going to shrink if you select to execute the full ripit4me process. Is there any quality difference expected when you go through the full ripit4me process or is that just a waste of time if shrink can make a successful copy without ripit4me?

if Shrink can rip it then the extra processes are not required, however personally I have never used Shrink to rip, and if given a choice between DVD Decrypter to rip and Shrink to rip, I would go with DVD Decrypter every time. It is simply a better ripper. Even when copy protection was nothing more than CSS, Shrink would not always be able to rip a disc correctly.

It is also faster to rip to the HDD, then Shrink, than to rip and shrink at the same time. It also puts less strain on your optical drives.

How do you know it's been "shut down" & not just having server or some other problems ?

And R4M is not really a copy protection beating program anyway's... it's basically just a GUI for the other programs that do the actual ripping & decrypting....

The notion that Slysoft purchased RipIt4Me is an interesting one. Slysoft has been taking a bit of heat from customers due to AnyDVD's inability to completely clean up junk files, ifo's and corrupt sectors on the fly.

I've stopped buying Sony dvd releases completely as a result of their inclusion of so much junk, compounded by autorun executables on their dvd releases. My system has autorun disabled, but some unsuspecting person could end up with malicious Sony software installed on their system.
