Hey all - I have always used mini DV but just got a Sony DCR-SR300 Hard Drive mpg camera. I want to create subtitles with the time and date on the DVDs that I create but cannot find a way to extract the datacode off of the mpgs from the camera. It was really easy with the DV files, but I cant find a program that does it for these mpgs. I know this camera puts a date and time code on the files but I dont know how to extract it from the file.

    Please help.

This is not really a DVD authoring issue so the DV / HDV and other camcorders forum works fine. Moving you.

I have no idea how the time code is stored...maybe as dvd subtitles? Does it record in vob, ifo, bup files or?

No problem on the move. The camera records directly to mpeg 2 files. While playing them back on the camera I can turn the timecode on and off.
