Hi all,
I am very new to this field. I am using Windows Me. My CD writer is HP 9700i. After long struggle I made a SVCD using Nero 5.5. I can able to play the CD through my stand alone DVD player. To play in my pc, I downloaded the WinDVD. If i set the default drive to my CD-ROM (Compaq 50X), the drive light just blink once and nothing happend. I was unable to play and unable to select the chapters too. At the same time, I set the default drive to my CD Writer (HP 9700i), It works fine and It opens automatically and shows the menus too. When the cd is working in my CD writer why not working with my CD ROM drive? Is there any thing to be noted before burning through Nero?? Please help.

WinDVD should have worked. Try Videolan http://www.videolan.org it's a freeware x(S)VCD & DVD player. I would suspect that for some reason WinDVD didn't install a MPEG2 codec on your PC.
