Is there a free animatics software that someone uses? If so then can please refer me to the site.
I am trying a logo animation (i.e. like the lucasarts one that comes at the intro of thier video games and stuff like that, or like the disney movie openings)

Not specifically, however there are several programs you might look at that will do what you are after to some degree.

Have a look at Blender, an opensource 3D modeling, animation and rendering package. Crazy interface, but you could do animatics through to almost the final work in it.

WAX2 has some 3D text capabilities amongst it'smany skills. Can be unstable, so save often.

Anim8or is another freeware 3D modeling and animation tool that can do some of what you are after.

Remember that animatics usually don't have much of the detail, texturing or effects of the final version, so you may have to build the foundations in one package, then polish in another.

Another one along the same lines as Guns1inger suggested is POVRay - it works along the same lines as the old DKBTrace (I'm showing my age here) and creates still images. AVISynth's ImageSource filter will be able to pull in the individual frames and create something suitable for sending through your favorite MPeg2 encoder.
