I wonder if anybody got an HP express upgrade kit yet? I purchased a notebook about 2mos ago with vista ready. Hoping to experience this new OS. Check with moduslink.com (where HP have them administed the upgrade) was told this is a rebate upgrade. I never knew it was a rebate!;otherwise, I would just wait to get a new PC when Vista released with pre-installed. Sooner or later I get it, but I think this kinda of misadvertising on HP with the free express upgrade. Doesnt look as it is Expresses! Can we get the HP upgrade from a computer stores? Becuase moduslink.com wanting to take as much time they want.By then my notebook would be about 5mos old and dont get to enjoy the new OS.

contact HP Customer Service by voice to solve this; have any proof you were promised vista free handy.

As resource hungry as Vista appears to be, I don't think I would be in any hurry to get it, especially for a laptop.

I contacted HP via online to the business dept w/complaints & moduslink.com shipped the same day as my complaints, wow! I dont think it would lags much built with the requirements, this is the reason why I purchased a factory made, instead of customized built due to drivers, program softwares with Factory tested etc.. and there always optional upgradable. No doubt any PCs need sufficient hardware to run even old OS.

The performance is much better with 1GB or even better with 2GB of RAM. This has been the same in the past with previous new Windows releases. I bought a Compaq laptop about eight years ago with 64MB of RAM and Windows 98 installed on it. I added more RAM and there was a HUGE improvement in performance. Right of wrong, the thing that causes this is competitive price pressure on the computer manufacturers. In order to meet competitive price points on their lower end systems, they skimp on the hardware and offer inadequate configurations. This is made even worse on systems that use shared RAM for the display adapter. This causes RAM access contention with the OS and applications that slows things down.
