Every time I turn on my Canon Pixma and print on a DVD with black ink I am getting blue streaks. It seems that the blue cartridge is leaking ink, which is turning up on 6BK (one of the black cartridges).

When I do the nozzle check print out, the 6BK comes out blue. The only way for me to get round this is to execute cleaning on all the colors, which uses up ink. After that the 6BK goes back to normal and prints black.

Is there any way to stop the blue cartridge leaking? This is so annoying. It's every time I turn the printer on.

  2. I have the same printer and never had a problem like that. Have you tried replacing the blue cartridge?

Err, No. That is to say I am trying it the cheap way. I was hoping I could sort it out some way other than buying another cartridge. If I buy one the postage means I might as well buy 4, and then I was told you should not store them for too long without using them.

Another thing is that the printer is starting to make quite a clicking and clunking sounds as the printheads (if that's what you call them) are moving from side to side. Has anyone experienced that?

Nozzle cleaning eats up a lot of ink too. So you'll end up wasting ink either way. I'd spend the $12 and buy a new cartridge and skip the headaches.

Wow!! I had no idea they were going for that much. I thought even the 4200, which was made to take original cartridges, now had third party cartridges available. $400 is ridiculous.

Oh I do appreciate the printer. Without it I could not print on my discs and would be making little money. I might just buy another set of cartridges. Kind of annoying as I just placed an order for loads of stuff and could have bought lots of Jet Tec cartridges (supposedly good). Now I will have to pay postage again.

franco I have the same printer and use compatable cartriges from ukdvdr they seem just as good as the canon ones for colour and cost about 79p each.Just make sure you don't buy the photo cyan and magenta instead of the ordinary ones.

Thanks Fatbloke. I had been on that site, but thought the postage would be more expensive than that. I usually order my media from SVP and their minimum shipping seems to be £4.99.

Cheers for that tip. It's easy to make mistakes in ordering the wrong stuff. I'll try there in future.

    Yes, www.ebay.co.uk

But on things like ink cartridges, most suppliers charge low prices but sting you on the carriage.....

franco i used to use svp until i had no internet connection one time and they wouldn't take an order over the phone, I buy my disks from ukdvdr (generally cheaper than svp )and just order a shed load of cartriges at the same time

They might be cheaper, but I prefer the DVD cases SVP sell, which is why I went with them for all the media I buy. It does not work out to order from different companies.

Maybe I will change in future. SVP do seem geared towards bigger orders.
