I had previously gotten helpful advice from this forum on downloading video from my DV camera to my computer. I had been using Windows Movie Maker but it was suggested to use another software that would allow me to make a clearer DVD. I did some research on line and read several professional reviews of the software. I think that I have narrowed down my choices to either Adobie Premiere Elements 3; Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus; or Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus. I am a novice when it comes to video and computers. I am looking for suggestions as to which of the software packages would be the easiest to use. All I want to do is transfer video from my camera, delete the bad footage, then copy the final product to a DVD. I might want to add some titles, but I am not to interested in making any major changes to the video.
    Thanks

All three of those will do that and much more, I'd avoid Pinnacle though because of their history.

For that matter if you only want to trim the edges of clips Ulead Movie Factory which is cheaper than all three might be more suitable. It has an emphasis on creating DVD's and less emphasis on editing. you could download the trial versions for any of those products.

I use Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus and love it. You can be as simple or creative as you want and you will probably find that over time you will want to be more creative using the editor vs the wizard application. It can also create background music automatically which is a nice feature. Stear clear of Pinnacle as it is buggy. I find this version of Ulead VS10Plus to be stable. Good luck.

Unless you have Windows Vista, Windows Movie Maker does not make DVD's..only cd's
You have to save as a dv-avi file and import to a DVD burning program..
I use WMM and also Ulead Movie Factory to make dvd's.
I also use Pinnacle Studio + 9.4 to do it all.........
If your using WMM save edited file as a dv-avi file...(about 13gig per hr.)...Then import to a dvd burning program of your choice to produce a dvd

I was using Movie Maker then burning the DVD with Sonic. The other question is that with Movie Maker I captured the video from my DV camera. Then I drag the scenes that I want to the storyboard. Its pretty simple. Does Ulead have the same feature or do I have to capture the entire movie and some how go back and take out the scenes that I don't want?
I had also tried making a video by capturing the video from my camera directly by Sonic (not using Movie Maker). It captured the whole Mini DV tape, but I couldn't figure out how to go back and delet the scenes I didn't want.

Ulead DVD Moviefactory will transfer from DV camcorder and automatically split scenes so you can select which ones you want and which you don't. It's as simple as using Movie Maker. It's also cheap ($50) and you can download a fully functioning free trial to check it out before buying. Go to www.ulead.com and give it a try.

And why not Sony Vegas? I think it's less complicated than Premiere, much more stable than Pinnacle and not too expensive.
