    I've been playing with my teac RC-805 dvd player (stand alone) and found that i can use NERO, turn the compliancy off and burn dvd quality onto a vcd or svcd
    VCD
    Video = 740x480 - 8000kb/s
    Audio = Mpeg1 Layer 11 - 41000Hz @ 224kb/s

    SVCD
    Video = 740x480 - 8000 kb/s
    Audio = Mpeg1 Layer 11 - 48000Hz @ 224 kb/s

    No actually I have found a way to get this quality on 2 cd's and tricking Nero to think it's just a plain vcd... I will tell you how if you like... I have made my own templates...
