    Whenever I try to do a project on Windows Movie Maker, even when I barely just back into it, even when only one form of action has been done, it gives this report before shutting itself down:

    Error Report:
    EventType: BEX P1:moviemk.exe P2: 2.0.3312.0 P3:3e038613 P4: comctl32.dll P5: 6.0.2900.2982 P6: 44ef1b33 P7: 0004e967 P8: c0000409 P9:00000000

    Reporting Details:
    This error report includes: information regarding the condition of Windows Movie Maker when the problem occurred, the operating system version and computer hardware in use, and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer.

    We do not intentionally collect your name, address, email address, or any other form of personal identifiable information. However, the error report may contain customer-specific information in the collected data files. While this information could potentially be used to determine your identity, if present, it will not be used.

    The data that we collect will only be used to fix the problem. If more available, we will tell you when you report the problem. This error report will be sent using a secure connection to a database with limited access and will not be used for marketing purposes.

    Files included in the error report:
    C//DOCUME~1\JIMMCN~1\Temp\WERb4d6.dir00\moviemk.exe.m dmp
    C//DOCUME~1\JIMMCN~1\Temp\WERb4d6.dir00\appcompat.txt
    It happen at least 20 times a day for every day that I use it. What seems to be the problem?

    This forum thread says the person with your problem fixed it by removing and reinstalling Movie Maker and SP2, even though his version of XP came with SP2. It has something to do with the movie maker exe being different from the installed version.

    remove and re-install

    hello everybody,
    i have windows xp sp2 pro.
    windows movie maker 2.1 always crashes.
    i would like to know how do i completely remove it and re-install it?

    You have to remove SP2 as well and then reinstall that.

    Have you tried any of the suggestions at www.papajohn.org crashes and hangs
    to see if they work?

    The version 2.0.3312.0 that your message gives is the original MM2.0 version
    of moviemk.exe, not the version 2.1 one that would be with SP2.. something
    like 2.1.4026.0 would be appropriate.

    You may need to reinstall MM2.1... see the Setup > MM2,1 page of my website,

    still, doesn't help.
    all dll files versions are ok, but still when i open the mmk and check for
    it version it hasn't change.
    here is a detail that can help maybe.
    i have a built in service pack 2.

    first of all - i got it .
    in some way you all were right, i have a built-in sp2, so i hadn't thought
    to install sp2-it doesn't appear in windows update but, after have no choise
    i downloaded in from miicrosoft website and installed it.
    the instalation has fixed everything.

    We have a knack in this group of all giving different answers and yet all of
    us on some level being right.
    But if your saying that your computer is new and came with XP SP2 then I
    would, even though you have it fixed now, either contact the manufacturer
    since there is apparently something wrong with your OEM disks or go to the
    Microsoft website and order a free disk with SP2 on it so you have it in
    case you ever need to do a reinstall.
