I'm sorry for the sarcasm in the title but it just seems that it doesn't matter if you have a 386 with 1 M of ram or a Quad core with 16G of DDRinfinity A/V sync will always be a problem...
I am just about to upgrade my 3.2Ghz P4 but for now I have it dual booting Vista Premium and XP MCE. I have been using Windows Media Encoder 9 to capture my FTA receiver and broadcast it WIFI to my laptop. It's mainly for sports so I never worried about the AV sync out abit on the WIFI broadcast.
Vista actually seemed a little smoother broadcasting so I mainly use it. I finally got around to getting the MCE remote with IR blasters to control my FTA. Guess what? Works flawlessly controlling the FTA and I was all set to record. I schedualled 4 movies to record and this again worked flawlessly. I dropped all 4 movies to separate DVDs within Vista and again everything went flawlessly.
Played the 1st movie and quality was great but... SOUND OUT OF SYNC 1/2 second! BRUTAL!
I have a 2 separate 300G SATA drives (1 for capture), 2 Gigs of ram and a ATI 550 Theater card. The system is CLEAN, no background activities etc. Latest drivers, blah, blah, blah etc.
Is 3.2Ghz too slow to record 480 X 480 SVideo?
I can capture a 3 hour movie with a DVB card HD 1920 X 1080 perfectly in sync with MYtheatre. Is the ATI card stinking the place up? I have a NVidia 7800 in the machine that has VIVO but MCE never sees it as an option...
Can I edit some setting to adjust the Audio sync in the driver or registry?
Sorry folks for the mini rant, guess I'm not the 1st or last to rant about AV sync.
