    On Mac, your best bet is probably Flip4Mac WMV component for QT.

    You'll get a watermark if you don't pay for the "pro" version of Flip4Mac, but it works.

    You didn't say what type of wmv it is. If VLC will play it, then that is a much better choice. Just recode to mp4.

    If ffmpegX will play it, you can use it to recode to mp4, also.

    I keep VPC Win98SE with TMPGEnc Plus for the ones that just won't play nice.

    Use VisualHub. It will do the wmv >> any format conversion without that nasty watermark.
