OK so I have converted my digital camera movies to DVD with sucess before. Here is what I do.
Use TMPGEnc to render each video file. Use ffmpeggui03c and take the output of TMPGEnc (mpg) and covert to AC3. Then use TMPGEnc author to author and burn DVD. For some reason My last DVD would not play any audio. I used AVICODEC to display the audio information of the DVD.
The one that did not have any audio looked like this.
VTS_01_1.VOB
File : 1023 MB (273 MB), duration: 0:04:40, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 83 %
Video : 266 MB, 7995 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported
Audio : 6.40 MB, 192 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM [0x80], Supported
I found a old DVD that did work and it looked like this.
VTS_01_1.VOB
File : 1023 MB (1005 MB), duration: 0:17:10, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 83 %
Video : 982 MB, 7999 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported
Audio : 23 MB, 192 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM [0x80], Supported
Both of these DVD's play on my computer just fine.
