I haven't even heard of DVD Cloner IV. I downloaded it, tried it and did not like it. I personally favor Slysoft CloneDVD.

    How about you?

What DVD shrinking/ reauthoring software do you think is the best? Weather it is on this list or not.

These so-called review sites are just bogus ways of getting inexperienced people to buy low quality software that is often based around programs they could download for free. I don't even have to open the link to detect the foul smell of scam.

For a quick reduction, DVD Shrink still does it with the same quality as any other transcoder. It doesn't have the finesse of some others when removing parts of a disc, but I re-author back to movie only, so this doesn't worry me. For anything where quality is top of the list, DVD Rebuilder with ProCoder, CCE or HCEnc has no equal.

Review sites are bullshit 99% of the time.

Your best reviews come from sites like this one, where the goal of the site is much larger to the topic.

You can find several of those 'review' sites on the INTERNET and each will have a different 'most popular' or 'best', depending on who pays them the most.

I use RipIt4Me>DVD Shrink>ImgBurn. All freeware and the one of the better solutions I have found for DVD backup. Or for a little more effort, using DVD Rebuilder, etc., as mentioned by guns1inger may be the best. And it can also be a freeware solution using HC encoder.

    No freeware on there?
Everything I use is freeware except AnyDVD which I actually bought for my wife to play NTSC region 1 discs on her laptop.
DVDDecrypter, DVDShrink and DVDFabDecrypter for me thanks.
    I agree with the rest....bullshit.

A diference of opinion is what makes a horserace.

    There is no "best" anything.
There is only what works the "best for you".
And the only way to determine what works best for you is to
dig into and try it and do it.

You may even discover that the "best for you" is what others call a POS. Don't worry about others, just develop confidence in your own ability and judgement.

Hey, this is supposed to be fun. Just do it and enjoy.

99% of reviews are bullshit written 'per order' from the manufacturer of the reviewed product.
The only reliable somewhat reviews appear *sometimes* in a specialized literature... i.e. if you see advertisement of the product on one page, and then you read review slamming the same product in the same magasine - you'll know this particular review was not written 'per order'.
However the problem is with 'good product' and 'genuine reviews' - unfortunately there is no way to tell real honest positive review of a product from the 'per order' written review.
So the best is NOT to trust any positive reviews and try it yourself if possible

If you needed any further proof that the site is a scam, their own product came out on top. Not only that, on the left side of the page is an invitation to download DVDShrink 2007 Pro (which, interestingly enough, isn't in their review). Now we all know that no such software exists, but, as it claims to be free, I thought I'd download it to see exactly what it is. The software is indeed free, but you have to pay a 'membership fee' to the site before it will let you download anything.

    Scam.....

That's a Google ad and most likely the site has relatively nothing to do with it's placement beside their own content on the page. In short Google knows the content of the page and will try and place the most relevant ads with the highest bidder. Depending it could be anywhere from a few pennies to dollars per click for the website displaying the ad.

  11. DVD Shrink 2007 Pro is a dupe. The company simply renamed our good old free DVD Shrink version and luring people to buy something which simply comes free. I believe you can find one notice of caution regarding this in the DVD Shrink official website.
