  2. Looks like a souped-up, stand-alone Flash player. Thus the catch: In addition to WMV, MPEG1/2,H.264, DivX, Xvid, and QT, now Flash is a full-fledged movie format.

    It's clear that Adobe's objective is to sell more Flash creation software. They did this with .pdf files also. They provide a free reader / player as a way to create the market for the files. Then they charge a heavy price for the software that generates the files. It worked phenomenally well with .pdf. We'll see about Flash.
