choppy video for 3gp/3g2/mp4 video file. what are the best settings?

hi. I have converted several AVI files averaging 90-300 mb to 3gp, 3g2, and mp4 all with mpeg-4 codec and aac audio codec using SUPER. I set the
video scale size to 320x240,
aspect to 4:3,
frame/sec to 30,
video bitrate kbps to 288 (first time) and 336 (second time)
sampling freq to 44100,
channels to 2,
and audio bitrate kbps to 64.

However, the video is choppy/laggy. I find mpeg4 is clearer than 3gp and 3g2. I don't know much about the video conversion settings and I've tried a bunch.

What are the best settings for an mpeg4 video with mpeg4 codec and a video scale size of 320x240?

Choppy/laggy on your computer? or mobile device? or both?

Try also use same frame rate(frame/sec) as the video source.

On low end playback devices (such as cell phones) halving the frame rate seems to help matters (as you can then also halve the bitrate and have the same quality) while not affecting the experience much.

yeah i set the fps to 11 and i tried 15. it works

but now during the video there is a grey screen that flickers in the video. Sometimes it just covers the whole video so its just all grey. It shows up on the phone and also the computer.

Any ideas?

Tried 3GP Converter? Left Super some time ago, as I never could persuade it to do exactly what I really wanted.

yeah i just downloaded 3gp converter but I tried the one labeeld MP4, H.264 (MPEG4/AVC) For PC
at QVGA normal quality 30 fps, however it doesn't work on my phone. I also tried the 3gp and 3g2 conversions but they have the black bars on the top and bottom, which I don't know how to get rid of.

Is there another way to use that program to convert to mpeg4 to play on a phone (320x240) or to get rid of the black bars in the 3gp and 3g2 video conversion files?
