I searched and found no answer in the forums so my apologies if this has been covered. I've been using ffmpeg for a while and it's usually a great app esp. when adding subtitles from a separate file. Not to suck up here but I think it's a great app actually.

But today while changing an .avi to a VIDEO_TS folder with ffmpeg, I noticed again that there's no indication of activity (i.e. that the app is doing anything) other than my 3rd party Menu Meters readout of CPU usage. So today I decided to find out why this is via the forums. I'm using ffmpegX v0.0.9v Feb 11, 2006.

The ffmpeg Progress Window said "finished" and I look in the folder where the video_ts folder is supposedf to be and it's not there. Finished to me means finished usually.. :P

I suspected ffmpeg was still cranking away so I check the Activity Monitor in OS X and sure enough, ffmpeg is still busy doing something.

Eventually the desired results are achieved, but I'm left guessing beforehand if ffmpeg is still running or not unless I look "under the hood" as it were.

There is the long anticipated "ding" once the process has finished but hey! Am I missing some indicator in the app that would tell me to leave it alone and not quit? How am I to know that ffmpeg is still working and has not failed the process other than my 3rd party apps like Menu Meter or the OS X Activity Monitor telling me so?
    Thanks for any help!
