  1. Hi,
I'm just a newcomer and tried to convert an avi to mpeg with tmgeenc. That works!
After getting the mpeg file a burned a vcd with some standard program setting.

But on my DVD Player + TV I just can see a black/white picture. Does someone have similar experiences? Or can you give me some precious tips?

My TV is a colour TV. That might not be the solution

    Thx a lot,
    Scuba

  2. Looks like this is a PAL-NTSC problem. Check to see if you encoded to pal, if you did then reencode to ntsc or vice versa.

  3. Can you tell me, what "vice versa" is and which tool can I use to reencode the file to "vice versa"???

The film was been encoded to PAL before. Could it depend to an regional setting??? I will try to reencode it again.
    Thx a lot

vice versa = "the outher way around"

if you live in NTSC country the problem might be you coded it to PAL.

  5. Thx a lot.
    I fixed the problem.
The solution has been too easy!!!
Better read the manual of the player and run the installation setup. So I could define the outgoing signal and change it to correct signal.

  6. Hi,
I am having the same trouble you have had (I guess) and were able to fix it.
I am playing PAL VHS tape on my multisystem (bought in Hong Kong) VCR and am watching black/white picture on a Philips NTSC-M TV after coming to the USA. Is there anyway I can get them to watch in colour like I used to when I was playing them on the same VCR on a multisystem TV in Hong Kong?

    I will appreciate any comments.
    Thanks very much in advance.
