I'm trying to copy DVD-RW discs that I've made on a Samsung R135 dvd recorder but having some major trouble. I've tried using DVD Decrypter, Nero, and simply copying the Video_TS contents to my hd. Tried backing up as VOBs, ISO, etc. and nothing works...always hangs part way through. After some testing it appears the culprit is the VTS_01_0.BUP file. It appears as 62k on the DVD-RW, but whenever I try to do so much as copy it or get the file properties of it, Windows explorer hangs up for a few moments before finally giving an error. I've tried re-formatting the disc and re-recording the video on it a few times with the same results. The finished DVD-RW seems to play fine however...I just cant copy it or access that one BUP file. DVD-Rs recorded previosly on the same unit don't seem to have the same problem.

BTW, I'm recording via DVD-V mode (Not VR) which should be creating the most "normal" type of DVD after finalizing the disc on the Samsung unit. The media is Fujifilm 2x DVD-RW. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    M

You don't need VTS_01_0.BUP. It's just a copy (BackUP) of VTS_01_0.IFO, so if you can copy VTS_01_0.IFO, you're safe (just make a copy of VTS_01_0.IFO and rename to VTS_01_0.BUP)
The problem is most likely down to a media error.

    Mats,

Thanks for the reply. I'll just ignore the BUP, or maybe just rename a copy of the IFO. I'll also try a different brand of media next time.
